WWW Wednesday’s July 25th

Hosted by MizB of Should be Reading, just answer three questions and post a link to your blog or leave your answers in the comments below.

What are you reading?

What did you just finish?

What is up next?

I am currently reading

The Great Gatsby on audiobook.  It is read by Tim Robbins and he is absolutely amazing!  His voices are awesome, he does accents and everything.  My favorite so far was a drunk man at one of Gatsby’s parties.  He slurred and sloshed his way through that.  I am really enjoying it, though I am going to have to read it soon (how did I ever miss this one?!).  I am reading Bear Meets Girl by Shelly Laurenston, it is a paranormal romance and the 7th or 9th in a series I haven’t read.  Hopefully that doesn’t matter!  So far, so good.  I have to read it quickly to send it on in a swap I am participating in.

I just finished –

The Art of Racing in the Rain, a quick and emotional read told from a dog’s first person POV.  Phoenix Rising, a wild bit of steampunk action and a first in a new series.  I also finished Pledged by Gwynneth White which was awesome!  It releases in the beginning of September BUT I will be giving away 5 electronic copies here – Giveaway information to be posted in the next week or two.  A Hunger So Wild by Sylvia Day.  It is fun, fallen angels were turned into vampires and werewolves…they are fighting and there is a ton of smexing.  Holy smokes.

What is up next…well, I want to pick up 101, a future dystopian YA book by Margaret Chatwin that looks really good and Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh.  Also, my boss loaned me the 50 Shades book.  Do I read it?

What is on your WWW?

About ocdreader

I love to read! I always have a book or four going, I have more books in my to-be-read pile than I can read in a year and yet I continue to haunt the bookstores. I have a problem, but I somehow soldier on. I enjoy talking books, so pass on your recommendations and thoughts - I would love to hear them.

I agree that the audio version of The Great Gatsby is very well done.

    Here’s my WWW Wednesdays Post.

It is completely awesome and will probably ruin me for other audio books. A happy and sad thing actually.

I’m always wary of reading books out of order in a series…I always like to start at the beginning so I am not spoiled on things…hopefully you enjoy Bear Meets Girl and its not dependent on the other books.

My WWW Wednesday can be found here.

Thanks – I usually am crazy about going in order which puts me so far behind! So far so good and I think I will have to gather the other ones, it is fully of snarky humor and the female shifters aren’t depressed and angst filled. At least not yet. It is kind of light and silly so far, which is super fun for me at this moment in time. 🙂

I love audiobooks. I read Gatsby years ago but don’t remember anything about it. Maybe I should try the Robbins version.

I would say YES! My only beef so far is he really does act it and when the characters are women or are talking quietly, his voice dips and I find myself turning up the volume. Suddenly I am louder than the cars with speakers in their windows. 🙂

  4. Valentina says:

LOL, your boss loaned you 50 Shades? Sounds like a cool boss 🙂

I KNOW! She is quite proper which makes it even more funny. But we talk books and I have loaned her a bunch (non-erotic though!)…she just wanted to “know what all the fuss was about”.

  5. “The great Gatsby” is on my wish list, I have to read it asap, I’m happy to know you’re enjoying it!

Glad you’re enjoying Great Gatsby. I may read it again soon before watching the new movie.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

It’s my first time here! I’ve also wanted to read “The Great Gatsby” forever and have thought about “The Art of Racing in the Rain.” If you like the dog POV, an old one called “Jim the Wonder Dog” is really good. I don’t know if it’s still in print, but the dog was real and from my hometown.

    My list is at http://katybrandes.wordpress.com/2012/07/25/www-wednesdays-25th-july/.

I really enjoyed The Art Of Racing In The Rain… started me on a dog-as-narrator kick!

  9. Danica Page says:

I really liked The Great Gatsby, but I didn’t absolutely love it like everybody else seems to. But I did thoroughly enjoy it.

Happy reading and thanks for stopping by my blog earlier today.
