WWW Wednesday 6-19

What are you reading this week?  I read a couple of good things, continued with some series and started a new one…Play along with MizB from Should be Reading and let us know what you finished, what you are currently reading and what is up next (if you know).

steel's edgeoutpostI finished a couple of things, Steel’s Edge (Edge #4) by Ilona Andrews which I really enjoyed.  I also finished the dystopian Outpost (Razorland #2) by Ann Aguirre which was a bit slower to get into than the first, but it ended with me very excited to get my hands on the third book, Horde.

midnight riotdie for meI am currently reading Midnight Riot by Ben Aaronovitch, an urban fantasy with an understated hilarity I absolutely am loving.  Also, Die for Me by Amy Plum, I am going to finish it dang it!  I am also a couple of chapters into Perception by Lee Strauss (thank you Gwynneth for hosting a contest – that I WON – woo hoo!)

I have actually been lucky this week. In addition to Perception I also won The Chemistry of Fate by Meradeth Houston from Jennifer’s blog Reading and Writing Urban Fantasy and Netgally had both 14 by Peter Clines AND Parasite by Mira Grant as “read now”.  I am soooooo excited I can hardly stand it!

What books have caught your attention this week?

About ocdreader

I love to read! I always have a book or four going, I have more books in my to-be-read pile than I can read in a year and yet I continue to haunt the bookstores. I have a problem, but I somehow soldier on. I enjoy talking books, so pass on your recommendations and thoughts - I would love to hear them.

  1. I’m smashing my way through Book 5 of Game of Thrones. Thing is, when everyone said that there were five books, I didn’t realise that Book 5 was actually two books… so I ended up jumping into an online discussion to announce how clever I am for getting up to date and ended up seeing some half-spoilers.

I’m on Book Two of Book Five, which really is the last one of the published GoT lot.

    I think.

  2. I haven’t heard of most of these books, but I do have a copy of Die for Me waiting on my kindle. I’m interested to see what you think of it. I had a slow week this week. You can check out my WWW here

I just started the Ilona Andrews book, “Steel’s Edge” which I am really enjoying. The main character, Charlotte, has already managed to misuse her healer’s magic so that she will be killed if caught, and it seems as though she will chose a suicide mission. I can’ t see happy ending at this point, but book is addicting.
I finished the last of the “feed” series…and it left me with very conflicted emotions, all together rather a flat feeling.
Struggling through “Witch’s Boy” by Michael Gruber. Half way through, hasn’t really grabbed me yet. But, so compulsive I will finish…
    I know….take your meds, Cathy!

I’m reading The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. I also want to tackle Khaled Hossaini and Dan Brown’s new books.

Finally! Somebody else to share my Ben Aaronovich love! I’m listening to Moon Over Soho (book 3) now, and will also read it. I love this guy–and the narrator is terrific. He gets all the voices spot on.

  10. Just added ‘Perception’ to my ever-growing TBR list, thanks! 🙂

My daughter’s reading Game of Thrones and was going to give me the set when she’s finished, but after reading Michael’s comment I’m going ARGH! Do I really want to read that much…

LOL – they look like a pretty big time committment… I have a couple on my shelf, but I can’t bring myself to crack open those heavy monsters 🙂

  12. Missed my WWW post this week. Life came up and bonked me on the back of the head. Only came up for air today! Oh well, there is always next week.

You know, I’ve only read the first two books of the Edge series. I am buying the rest soon for the Ilona Andrews signing in San Diego.
