Review – Die For Me

I have had this one my shelf for months now and decided it was time to check it out. It is a YA book about a girl and her sister who go to Paris to get over their parents untimely death. She is bookish and reclusive, completely depressed and therefore ready to meet the most handsome, immortal boy ever.  Right?

So, there are a few tropes that are trotted out in this book. Immortal gorgeous boy with immortal family, reclusive beautiful girl with recently killed parents who doesn’t know she is gorgeous, insta-love type thing and good vs evil (we can’t have a good book without bad guys right?).  BUT, my snarkiness aside, the story is a bit different from some others I have read and I did finish the whole thing, even though I rolled my eyes a couple of times.

What I liked about it is that there is only one love interest. They are in Paris (I mentioned that right?) and the people are so earnest, the grandparents are hip and there is a medievil good vs evil thing going on, and the good are really good and, you guessed it, the bad are really bad!

But anyway it is fun, annoying, cute, stressful and a bit romantic.  I put the story down for a while just because I had to read something else quickly but it was easy to get back into the drama of it.  The characters are a bit young (except for the immortal dude) but they roll with things better than previous heroines.  The first half was awesome, the second half was where most of the eye-rolling happened, but it was good.  There are some unexplained phenomena happening that will probably be understood in the next book or something. I will be interested to see where Plum takes this story.
