Review – Bound by Night

bound by nightBound by Night (Moonbound Clan Vampires, Bk 1)

So, this cover, just have to point out that it cracks me up.  Check out his knife on the right.  Oh man, it makes me laugh along with his earnest face.  Anyway, enough of that.

It is another new type of vampire story, they are bound as slaves by the humans in this world.  Vampires are still scary and dangerous, but humans do what they do best and neuter them in many ways to create strong slaves.  Kind of idiotic since they are so dangerous, but mankind likes to subdue strong peoples and put the yoke around their necks to feel superior.  Of course there is propaganda and falsehoods about both races and our heroes find out how wrong it all can be.  Fun.

The storyline is interesting.  Though the bad guy is who you think it will be.  There really aren’t any other options…but ya know.  So I was a little disappointed by the main heroine, Nicole, she is misguided and the bad guy has a nice monologue to catch us up to speed on how things came about.  But, the story was fun so I just plowed on through.  Also, the end is a bit convenient with the thing Nicole finds out how to make, but whatever, it was still fun.

The love interest is fairly believable though I still had a few “hmmmm” moments until I just rolled with it.  I think our heroes just take themselves too seriously (they are sworn enemies!) and were a bit too self-sacrificing, so they were super similar and I prefer that opposites attract thing with loads of snark I guess.  But they were good and got some steamy time together.  Things just fell apart or came together a little bit too conveniently.

It sounds like I didn’t enjoy myself and that totally isn’t the case.  I will read and look forward to the next book, but while I was reading this one I just had a few moments.  But the story has great action, full worldbuilding and a paranormal romance with background issues to work through to get to the happy stuff, so there was a ton included in this book.  I have my hopes for how the next one will pan out and who the main man will end up with.  🙂  I am hoping it is the sister… lol.  Anyway, 3.5 vampire fang stars ground up and mixed into a cream, it reduces wrinkles in humans.

About ocdreader

I love to read! I always have a book or four going, I have more books in my to-be-read pile than I can read in a year and yet I continue to haunt the bookstores. I have a problem, but I somehow soldier on. I enjoy talking books, so pass on your recommendations and thoughts - I would love to hear them.

I hate being disappointed by the main character. But at least this was still a fun read. OMG, I never noticed the cover with the whole knife thing. OMG, laughing so hard right now.

Don't be shy!
